Board evaluation briefing
Making the most of Board and Committee evaluations
A successful Board is not guaranteed by simply bringing together successful people.
Evaluations help ensure Boards have the knowledge, skills and ability needed to drive performance and shareholder value and meet corporate governance standards.
Briefing Outline and Objectives
Evaluating Board Performance
Board performance evaluations have featured in the UK corporate governance landscape for some time but the three yearly external facilitation element contained in UK Corporate Governance Code (provision B.6.2) is a relatively new provision and one FTSE 350 companies will have to take into account.
Evaluations, when undertaken properly, can identify areas of strengths and weakness, leading organisations to make changes that positively impact performance and shareholder value. Every board can become more effective and evaluation can be a real driver of improvement.
This focused briefing has been specifically designed for Board chairmen, Non-executive Directors, Company Secretaries and all those involved in supporting Board level governance and performance, in order to bring them up to date with the requirements of the UK Corporate Governance Code and to help them consider the options available to their boards to improve performance on organisational, board and individual member levels.
